INDIANAPOLIS -- Teenage recording artist Shonda Sue will perform selections from her new project, "No Greater Love," at her CD release party, Saturday, July 5, 2003. The party will be held from 1-4 p.m. at Speedway General Baptist Church, 3821 W. 34th Street, Indianapolis. In addition to performing selections from the album at various times during the event, she will also meet with guests and autograph purchased albums.
"No Greater Love" is Shonda Sue's sixth independent label project and her third on her own label, SPirit Productions Studio - a joint venture with her grandfather, Paul Youkey of Thorntown. The album features her tribute to some of her favorite contemporary Christian artists as well as a few traditional gospel hymns. The 12-track CD will be available for $10 at the party and through her official website, http://www.shondasue.com in her online store.
Shonda Sue, who is interested in signing with a major label, has been performing and recording since she was 8. "No Greater Love" follows on the heels of two albums released last year by SPirit Productions Studio - a holiday album titled "Christmas with Shonda Sue" and a compilation album, featuring songs from her live concets, "Shonda Sue LIVE! 2003 Favorites."
In the summer of 2001, Shonda Sue released her first Nashville project, "Girl Thang," which later led to airplay in Europe and Australia. The single, "Live While I Can," was part of a compilation CD released in the overseas market by Comstock Records. After the initial airplay, many overseas stations requested the full "Girl Thang" album.
Shonda Sue kicked off her recording career with her first country album, "I Love to Sing" at age 8 and her first gospel project, "Sweet, Sweet Land" which was released when she was 10.
"The past year has been a whirlwind," Shonda Sue said. "I have learned a lot of new material and juggled my singing career with church, home schooling and practice. It's been a challenge but it's what I want to do - so it has also been fun."
"No Greater Love" is being considered the prelude to her next big contemporary Christian/gospel project which is already in developmental stages. The new project is expected to feature some original contemporary Christian music but a timeline for production and release is not yet available.
