T's Jook Joint - the Official Celebration of African American Music Month
"Last Friday's Jam Session" monthly benefit concert series features a special edition tribute show in honor of African American Music Month
Diaperman Inc will feature a full production of excitement on Friday, June 27th with another special edition of the year old, Last Fridays Jam Session" benefit concert series at the Philadelphia Clef Club. Friday, June 27th show is dubbed, Ts Jook Joint -- the Official Celebration of African American Music Month". A variety of musical tributes will highlight the evening. Some of the great artists being honored through song are: the Ebonys, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, Lou Rawls, Etta James, Marvin Gaye, King Pleasure, the Staple Singers, Whitney Houston, Sade, Luther Vandross, Jean Carne, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
Between each live performance will be interaction from the audience with honorary Soul Train Lines, Dance Contests, Music Trivia, and a lip-sync tribute to the Temptations, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and the Supremes. There will also be a brief ceremony commemorating the passage of House Resolution 509 (May 23, 2000) introduced by Congressman Chaka Fattah. Doors open 8:00pm, Showtime 8:30pm on Friday, June 27th at the Philadelphia Clef Club located 738 South Broad Street on the Avenue of the Arts. Advance tickets $15 and $20 at the door. The "Last Friday's Jam Session" is a monthly benefit concert series developed as a community partnership program to raise funds for youth in the arts. Funds will create scholarships for the Youth Jazz Ensemble of the Clef Club and Freedom Theatre.
