INDEPENDENCIA 2003 Fourth of July Charity Event for Human Rights of Non U.S. Citizens

Texas musicians and grass roots organizations to raise funds on behalf of the 19 smuggled immigrants who perished escaping to promised freedoms May 14th, 2003, Café Revolucion, San Antonio, 7:00p.m.

San Antonio, TX -- A co-op of individuals, Texas Musicians, and grass-roots organizations, announces Human Rights themed fundraiser inspired by deadly incident involving undocumented migrants discovered May 14, 2003 near Victoria, Texas. The emergency attempt to raise awareness begins at 7:00p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2003.

Scheduled at the Café Revolucion, Downtown, San Antonio, the affair will feature a diverse lineup of independent musical artists, local and national nonprofits dedicated to social issues, and guest speakers committed to progressive politics. Confirmed list of participants listed below.

The Fourth of July celebration has been dedicated to those who enrich our local communities through the process of empowerment. All co-organizers encourage volunteerism, activism, environmentalism, and community awareness. Therefore, creative support for the evening will provide an open space to collect information on programs promoting arts, culture, and political consciousness. In the spirit of local traditions attendees will also enjoy guest speakers, paletas, a card reader, breakdancers, DJs, progressive indie-rock, and more.

INDEPENDENCIA was designed to promote friendships and interactions between local communities and alternative lifestyles. Sights and sounds begin at 7:00PM with the continuation of entertainment until 2:00AM.
