In Reston, Virginia, down home" cooking can mean anything from deep fried catfish to baba ganoush, for Reston is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the nation. Once a year, the community celebrates its remarkable diversity at the Reston Multicultural Festival. Now in its fourth year, the Festival is a one-day extravaganza of music, dance, art, crafts and food.
The Festival, which is made possible through the work of local volunteers and community organizations, will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Restons historic Lake Anne Village Center from 10 a.m. -- 6 p.m.
Through demonstrations of our communitys smorgasbord of foodways, folkways, traditional dances, dress and artwork, the Multicultural Festival provides an overview of the colorful, ever-changing cultural patchwork that is Reston.
Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend. For further information, contact Haywood R. Hopson, Sr., Special Events Director, at the Reston Community Center, (703) 648-2838, or visit the website, http://www.restonweb.com/multiculturalfestival/.
