MC Lyte, Brenda Russell, Lee Bailey, speak at the Los Angeles Music World Music Uplifting Minds II Talent Competition Sun., June 29th at the Baldwin Hill Crenshaw Mall

Los Angeles is host to the next Music World Music "Uplifting Minds II" Talent Competition. It will be held at the Baldwin Hill Crenshaw Mall from 1 - 5 p.m. The annually free event will be hosted by Radio One's 100.3 The Beats' Adimu and showcase over twenty young acts from all over the world in music, dance and songwriting. Judges who will speak at the event will be industry giants such as MC Lyte, Brenda Russell and Lee Bailey.

The list of judges for the "Uplifting Minds II" event continues with producers Damon Elliott (Destiny's Child) and Jae Deal (Dru Hill), song writer Michael Houston (IMx), Charis Henry (ASCAP), record distributor and label owner Gary Wade, Sr (Nappy Headz), Dedra S. Davis. Esq., guitarist and label owner Vernon Neilly, artist development head Sahirah Uqdah (Tonos.com), artist managers Nadiyah Kareem (Talib Kareem) and Norman Gibson (comedian Diana Corder), and marketing specialist Tiaunte Kelly (Hidden Beach Recordings). The showcase starts with a question-and-answer session and ends with a professional showcase and announcement of the winners.

The competition is part of the Los Angeles Music World Music "Uplifting Minds II Conference. The conference begins at the Four-Points Sheraton for a day of music business seminars given by some of those mentioned. Topics include "forming your own indie label," "managing techniques," "entertainment law tips," "song writing techniques," "marketing techniques," "on-line promotional techniques," "vocal training techniques" and "studio production mathematics."

The judges of the Music World "Uplifting Minds II" Conference are sponsors along with Radio One - The Beat, Four-Points Sheraton, Baldwin Hill Crenshaw Mall, the L.A. Held in partnership with Mathew Knowles (Music World Entertainment) and Eunice Moseley (Freelance Associations) the next Music World Music "Uplifting Minds II" Talent Competition will be in Houston December 12-13, 2003. Deadline for that showcase is October 30th.
