Memphis, TN -- A track by roots blues guitarist Mark Lemhouse will be included on "Get The Blues 2", a CD sampler to be released July 8th by the Blues Music Association and The National Association of Recording Merchandisers. The preceding year's joint sampler by the two organizations, "Get The Blues!", has sold 87,000 copies in the United States, and was the #4 blues record of 2002 on the SoundScan year-end sales chart.
The selected track, "Electra 225", is an original composition by Lemhouse, featuring him performing solo with National Resonator guitar. The track first appeared on "Big Lonesome Radio", Lemhouses recent release on Yellow Dog Records. On the CD sampler, "Electra 225" will appear alongside tracks from blues legends Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Koko Taylor, as well as some of the most well-known contemporary blues artists, including Marcia Ball, Ronnie Earl, and Kim Wilson.
"Mark is thrilled to be featured on an album with some of his music heroes," says Michael Powers, president of Yellow Dog Records. "We're pleased that the selection committee recognized some of the extraordinary music being created by independent-label artists today. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mark Lemhouse's distinctive style of roots blues to reach a wider audience."
"Big Lonesome Radio", the debut release by Mark Lemhouse, has received international acclaim in major publications including MOJO Magazine, Blues Revue, and Blues Matters!. The release has also enjoyed strong airplay on over one hundred stations nationwide, reaching #13 on the May 1st, 2003 Living Blues radio chart, and peaking at #4 on the Roots Music Report Blues chart the week ending April 16th, 2003.
