RUSHCON 3 -- Celebrate the Moment" THIRD ANNUAL RUSH FAN CONVENTION RETURNS TO TORONTO JULY 18-20, 2003
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) June 10, 2003 -- Rush fans have another reason to celebrate as they gather from all over the world for RushCon 3. This annual convention--- the biggest Rush Fan Gathering on the planet---returns to fabulous downtown Toronto this July 18-20th.
Following the 2002 release of the widely acclaimed Vapor Trails" and the launch of one of the most successful and top-grossing tours of the year, Rush gives another reason for fans to congregate this July to continue the celebration as they eagerly await the release of Rushs new live DVD Rush In Rio," due out this fall.
A variety of events and entertainment options will be offered throughout the weekend, beginning with an exclusive In the Mood" Mixer held on Friday night to welcome traveling fans and set the tone for the weekend.
Saturday, July 19 begins with a fan convention held at the historic Opera House in Downtown Toronto. Activities include guest speakers, a charity auction (benefiting the Daily Bread Food Bank of Toronto,) rare and collectible merchandise vendors and a variety of contests, games, and fan participation events.
RushCon proudly welcomes this years honored guest speaker, Howard Ungerleider--- Rushs Lighting Designer and Director. Ungerleider has over 30 years experience in the lighting business, many of which have been spent on the road with Rush. He will share his experiences working with the band to bring their incredible, visually-oriented shows to life. The daytime activities culminate in the annual Rush memorabilia charity auction, where rare and autographed items are sold to the highest bidder and all proceeds benefit the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. This successful auction has raised over $11,000 for the Daily Bread Food Bank in the past two years alone!
Saturday night, fans return to The Opera House for a special convention after-party, featuring two seasoned Rush Tribute Bands: one Canadian --EXIT STAGE LEFT from La Salle Quebec and one from the U.S.-TORONTO AIRPORT from Orlando, Florida. Both bands will treat the audience to an evening of Rushs most classic (and even some obscure) tunes.
Sundays optional day package includes a walking tour of downtown Toronto, an exclusive tour of Anthem Records, and a bus trip to Lakeside Park ending with a private party at the infamous Orbit Room. Sunday events are offered at a nominal extra charge and space is limited.
Admission for the Mixer, Convention and Tribute Band Concert is $35 CND
Saturday night Tribute Concert only, $15 CND at the door.
Optional Sunday walking tour is an additional $60.
RushCon is hosted by the Face Up To Hunger Foundation, an Ontario non-profit organization formed entirely by Rush fans. FUTHF was formed exclusively to host RushCon and ensure that each year the proceeds are donated to our designated charity, the Daily Bread Food Bank of Toronto (http://www.dailybread.ca).
