PRESSURE SYSTEMS, INC. ACHIEVES ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION

Hampton, VA (PRWEB) June 26, 2003 - Pressure Systems, Inc., manufacturer of precision level and pressure instrumentation, announces that it has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, the latest revision of the international quality standard. The company received accreditation in April 2003, following a successful surveillance audit by its chosen registrar, NQA.

Pressure Systems, Inc. was originally certified against the 1994 standard in June 1995, and successfully maintained the certification through surveillance audits conducted every six months, as well as through reviews conducted every three years. The implementation of a proven quality management software package was a significant contributing factor in the companys ability to continually improve its quality management system.

Steve Yakshe, President, said, Pressure Systems obviously takes great pride in this accomplishment and we place significant emphasis on using it to continue to provide high quality instrumentation to our customers."

According to the ISO 9000 Registered Company Database, only 18% of US companies certified to the 1994 standard have achieved 2000 certification as of May 15, 2003 making PSI one of the leaders in this achievement.

Upon learning of the new standard, Pressure Systems formulated a two-year plan to achieve accreditation beginning in January 2001. The plan was built around normally scheduled surveillance audits against the 1994 version; components of the new standard were audited as well. The final audit in April of this year centered primarily on product realization, which addresses quality issues from product conception to installation and operation.

A primary focus of the 2000 standard is on Customer Satisfaction. In order for a manufacturer to measure and ensure Customer Satisfaction, it must conduct regular Customer Surveys to obtain quantitative data relating to the performance of the company as well as its products.

According to Quality Control Manager Steve Wood, Pressure Systems customer service, sales, and support staff will conduct these surveys and compile the data for internal reporting, in order to ensure continuous improvement. Wood also noted that the company has updated its Quality Policy to include statements addressing the interests of its customers, as well as the continuous improvement initiatives, to ensure the effectiveness of Pressure Systems quality management system.
