CALIFORNIA WINEMAKER TURNS NORTH CAROLINA FURNITURE MAKER
Dream career left behind for unique business venture.
Jonathan Avila, owner of A La Carte Kids custom Furniture, turned heads when he announced his resignation as Winemaker of Laetitia Vineyards and Winery, located on the beautiful central coast of California.
People thought I might have been drinking too much of my own product," says Avila.
After eight years of making world class Pinot Noir, Avila decided to get back to his family roots.
Jonathan continues: I have always loved woodworking. I grew up watching my Dad craft and refinish fine furniture."
Adjusting from the high intensity of California winemaking to the slower pace found in the rolling hills of North Carolina was a shock, to say the least.
The change was well worth it! After taking twelve months to develop uniquely styled furniture and create an easy to use web-site [www.alacartekids.com, A La Carte Kids was born," Jonathan says with a look of pride across his face.
Avila likes to bring his winemaking philosophy to the art of designing and crafting childrens furniture. With so many average looking furniture options to choose from, his insight is refreshing, When it comes to wine, everyone has their own taste: some like sweet and fruity while others like dry and crisp. We try to make furniture that fits an individuals own tastes. We have some truly one of a kind pieces."
A La Carte Kids has just celebrated two years of bringing hand crafted, custom furniture to families all over the United States.
