Wizdom Announces Award of 2 Phase I DoD SBIRs

Wizdom Systems, a leading consulting and engineering services company announced the award to two Phase I Small Business Innovative Research grants from the Missile Defense Agency and managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate Both projects are designed to research process and control methods that will significantly increase the yield in the production of Focal Plane Arrays (FPA), devices crucial to the successful deployment of the nations missile defense system. Various units of the Federal Government have awarded these awards bring to nine the number of SBIRs that Wizdom. Wizdom is teamed with Rockwell Science Center RSC of Thousand Oaks, California in the performance of both SBIRs. Rockwell is the end producer of the FPAs.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) June 22, 2003 -- -- Wizdom Systems, a leading consulting and engineering services company announced the award to two Phase I Small Business Innovative Research grants from the Missile Defense Agency and managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate

Both projects are designed to research process and control methods that will significantly increase the yield in the production of Focal Plane Arrays (FPA), devices crucial to the successful deployment of the nations missile defense system. Various units of the Federal Government have awarded these contracts to Wizdom bringing to nine the number of SBIRs that Wizdom has won. Wizdom is teamed with Rockwell Science Center RSC of Thousand Oaks, California in the performance of both SBIRs. Rockwell is the end producer of the FPAs.

Production Optimization Methodology for Semiconductor fabrication - (POMS)

Under this SBIR Wizdom will perform Detailed Process Step Investigation searching for innovations in process areas such as:
·   Etch Process Alternatives
·   After Etch Surface Composition
·   Surface Oxidation

This project has as its main target of opportunity the Passivation process including materials and processes. The result will be an impact/opportunity assessment of new methods, materials and particularly ways of controlling the Passivation process with new algorithms and instrumentation.

PFPYA - Predictive Focal Plane Yield Analysis

Under this SBIR Wizdom will research improved MBE Surface Temperature Control through Metrology Alternatives and improved Material Features Correlation through advances in predictive theoretical models.
As in POMS, the result will be an impact/opportunity assessment of new methods, materials and particularly ways of controlling the process with new algorithms and instrumentation.

As has been our history, Wizdom expects to carry forward these SBIRs to Phase II implementation", said Dennis E. Wisnosky, Wizdom founder and President. The result for RSC will be significant improvement in their ability to increase production quantity. The Result for MDA will be lower cost per unit. And the result for Wizdom will be entry in to a new market segment with advanced controls technology.
