Fashion Designer Gives New Meaning to "Something Old, Something New"

Motivational speaker turned fashion designer, Ellen McNeill, introduces a creative way to turn 20th century discards into 21st century fashion.

Asheville, NC -- Motivational speaker turned fashion designer, Ellen McNeill, offers fashion forward women something new in denim. Her website, OnlyOneOnThePlanet.com, features one of a kind designs, with a twist. A supporter of recycling, McNeill transforms vintage denim, clothing and jewelry from the 70s, 80s and 90s into 21st century fashion.

Using an artistic process she developed, McNeill creates what she calls a "neo-collage" on a retro denim vest. She deconstructs discarded leather purses, unusual jewelry and colorful vintage clothing and recycles the leather, beads and fabric swatches to decorate her vests.

Her designs have been featured on HotProducts.com and in the AATCC Review, an International Magazine for Textile Design, Processing, and Testing. McNeill's one of a kind designs can take up to 60 hours to complete and range in price from $1,275 to $3,175. Her web site provides color photographs of 21 designs along with motivational tips, quotes and a history of beads.
