New Schlage COBRA Mortise Lock Yields 100 Individual Codes

Administrators Add and Delete Codes in Seconds at the Keypad

FORESTVILLE, CONN. (PRWEB) June 28, 2003 -- IR Security & Safetys Electronic Access Control Division (EACD) today announced that it has added a mortise lockset to complement the popular cylindrical COBRA lockset introduced in 2002. Now, facilities with both cylindrical and mortise locks can utilize one common solution to meet basic access control needs. Comparably priced to conventional mechanical and electronic numerical code locks, the Schlage COBRA locks store up to 100 codes and allow administrators to easily add or delete users in seconds.

Introduced last year, the COBRA cylindrical lock has been one of our most successful locks and the new mortise version has been a highly requested product," reports Jeff Koziol, marketing director for Locknetics On Board" systems. At an installed cost of around $600 per door, these programmable electronic locks are a solid choice for facilities with a limited number of users and access points. A step above the traditional generations-old strictly mechanical pushbutton lock, they are stand-alone, microprocessor-based, battery-powered locks that provide increased customer value. With them, staff can quickly program up to 100 individual user codes, right at the keypad."

The COBRA locks have an architecturally appealing design and are available in five finishes and 2 lever styles. As a result, they complement any décor. Until they receive an authorized code, their clutching levers simply give way, discouraging vandals and others from breaking them to gain entry. The COBRA locks operate on four off-the-shelf, AA alkaline batteries, which provide 80,000-plus cycles or approximately three years life. Schlage COBRA mortise locks fit most mortise door preparations with minor modifications. Coverplates are available to cover door preparation left from prior installations.

The new Schlage COBRA mortise lockset is available now. Both ¾-inch latch-bolt and 1-inch deadbolt designs are available.
