LOCAL TEACHER INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 28, 2003 -- Local Martial Art Teacher was inducted into the United States Taekwondo Hall of Fame on Friday, June 20, 2003. The honoree was Sergio Camacho, owner and Grandmaster of Korean Karate Institute. With a full attendance at the Riviera Hotel, presenter Stan Witz presented Grandmaster Camcho the Bald Eagle Hall of Fame Trophy and the Fall of Fame Black Belt. Only a hand full of special individuals have been honored with this title. With his students present and the crowd on their feet, he proudly accepted his place in history. Other inductees were Movie Stars Cynthia Rothrock, Gokor Chivichyan, and Eric Lee.

Grandmaster Camacho began training in Karate Do from 1970 to 1975. In 1975, he continued martial arts training in Judo. In 1977, he became the first State Juvenile Champion in Mexico. Between 1977 and present he trained in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Kung Fu and various other disciplines. In 1988, he became a member of the International Martial Arts Association. On December 10 1989, he was honored and recognized by the Board of Directors of the USA Goju Sabudokai Association as a Renshi Yo-Dan 4th Dan. In 1989, he tested as a 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do. In 1993, he was promoted to a 5th degree black belt under the U.S.A. Korean Karate Association. In 1999, he was promoted to a 6th degree black belt (title of Grandmaster) under the U.S.A. Korean Karate Association.

Grandmaster Sergio Camacho is currently the Executive President of the International Cardio Kickboxing Association (ICKA), and President of the USA Korean Karate Association (USA KKA).

"All the competitors did an excellent job and I am very proud of our team" Says Sergio Camacho. "Our school strives for excellence in everything we do and not only in competition. The martial arts build skills that all students can apply in everyday life, whether it is in school, work or personal relationships."

The Korean Karate Institute is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Grandmaster Camacho is presently teaching over 200 students in martial arts. He also has an instructor certification program in martial arts and cardio kickboxing and provides instructors with various opportunities for professional development in various local gyms.
