AIDS WALK CARIBBEAN - June 28, 2003

Calling all Walkers, Friends and Families: BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. CPIC Inc. sponsors its 2003 ANNUAL AIDS WALK CARIBBEAN, Saturday June 28, 2003; the walk begins at the Junction of Flatbush and Nostrand Ave at 0800 with a prayer dedication, proceeding north on Flatbush, east on Church Ave, north on New York Ave, and east on Winthrop Street into Wingate Park. Guest Speakers for the walk include Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Rafael Mazin, Regional Advisor on HIV/AIDS/STI Prevention and Comprehensive Care, HIV/AIDS Unit of the Pan American Health Organization, Ms. Sonia Elliott, Liaison Officer UNAIDS.

After over 20 years and 20 million deaths, this epidemic is the worst humanitarian crisis in recent time; we see the Caribbean leading the epidemic and it is scary said, Dawn Stewart founder of AWC and CEO of CPIC, Inc. CPIC goals for AIDS Walk Caribbean is to raise awareness of the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean Community and to raise funds to assist with funding needed to provide service to the community through education and promotional activities.

CPIC, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1995 and incorporated in 2002 in Brooklyn, New York. The primary mission of this organization to promote healthy lifestyles amongst persons of Caribbean descent and Caribbean-American in a professional, culturally based atmosphere where all those involved may benefit from knowledge and access to testing, counseling, educational practices, and life skills, giving them the opportunity to maintain a totally healthy life style.

AIDS Walk Caribbean is the largest HIV/ AIDS awareness event in the Brooklyn area geared to the Caribbean Community and people of color. "The war against AIDS in our communities can be more effectively waged with much broader partnerships with faith and community-based organizations. The walk will benefit PLWA in the Caribbean community and NGOs whose diverse services include: Testing, Counseling, support and education. CPIC's major goal is to the establishment of a Hospice and a HIV/AIDS Support Center in Guyana and the Caribbean.

AIDS Walk Caribbean is designed as a pledge walk, where nearly every dollar pledged goes directly to AIDS Service Organizations within the community and the Caribbean including Guyana.

Volunteers are needed to make this year?s walk a success story. Opportunities are available for all levels of commitment. Please donate your time and be introduced to an amazing group of caring individuals and the wonderful work that is enabled through the continued growth of AIDS Walk Caribbean and CPIC Inc.
