Napa, California (PRWEB) July 1, 2003 -- WineRoads Limited, a Napa Valley-based production company is now shooting the first 13 half-hour episodes of a new weekly TV series for distribution through PBS stations. WineRoads®: Tales of Adventure in Wine, Food & Travel, is produced in association with PBS presenting station KTEH-TV in San Jose, California, and will be distributed nationally through American Public Television in spring 2004. To ensure the highest production standards for the series, three-time Emmy Award-winning Director of Photography, Rick Greenwell, is heading the WineRoads® camera team.
WineRoads® is a first-of-its-kind national television series in the American market that explores the historical and cultural ties that bind the wines and foods of the world to our contemporary lifestyle. WineRoads® first 13 half-hours include domestic and international segments covering California wine regions, Washington State, Australia and Italy.
Producer-Host Steve Andrews and co-host, Sally James, an award-winning Australian author and educator, guide the audience on adventures to the worlds most exciting destinations for wine, food and travel. They explore the pleasures, the history and culture, while offering an in-depth view thats as entertaining as it is educational. In each half-hour program, Andrews and James "demystify" the wine experience to make it more fun and accessible to the television audience. From the crafting of fine vintages to simple home strategies for pairing wines with food, WineRoads® presents the winemakers, the chefs, local purveyors, hoteliers and historians that make each weekly destination a complete armchair travel experience.
Sally James, author of eleven cookbooks, is the winner of two international awards:
the International Cookbook Review in 2000 and the International Association of Culinary Professionals, IACP Cookbook Awards in 2001. Her book "Simply Sensational" was also a finalist for the IACP Cookbook Awards in 2003. James latest book, "Escape to Yountville: Recipes for Health & Relaxation from the Napa Valley" will be released nationally by Ten Speed Press in July.
Including three Emmy Awards, Rick Greenwell, WineRoads® Director of Photography, has been honored with twelve prestigious Emmy nominations for his work in production, photography, lighting and editing.
WineRoads Limited is independently funding the production, however, sponsor partnerships and promotional underwriting opportunities are available for the first season.
"The broad national appeal of the series format makes it an exceptional marketing platform for sponsoring underwriters. For season one, we are looking to secure corporate marketing partnerships with a wine sponsor, a luxury products and food sponsor, and a travel sponsor," says Executive Producer, Stephen Andrews.
