WEBTECH WIRELESS ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC SUPPLIER AGREEMENT WITH DATACOM WIRELESS & INITIAL MILLION DOLLAR PURCHASE ORDER
(PRWEB) JUNE 27, 2003 -- WebTech Wireless has signed a hardware supply agreement with Datacom Wireless for the WebTech locator device series. Under the terms of the agreement, WebTech will supply its WebTech locator device series to Datacom that will provide the in-vehicle telematics gateway for Datacom's Mobicom service. Datacom has expanded on an existing purchase agreement to purchase $1-million of the WebTech locator device series over the next 12 months. Over 150 commercial clients including some of Canada's largest corporations currently use the Mobicom service.

The Mobicom service operates over next-generation wireless networks using global wireless standards (GSM/GPRS) and includes mapping of all of North America, virtual geo-fencing capabilities, integrated dispatch messaging, customized management reports and real-time tracking. The Mobicom service provides customers a very cost-effective solution that enables optimization of fleet operations to achieve significant operational savings.
The WebTech locator device series provides the following capabilities to Datacom's Mobicom service offering:
GPS for location monitoring of fleet vehicles;
mobile Internet connection via GSM/GPRS (56 plus kilobits per second;)
flexible input/output which enable a wide range of external telemetry sensors (temperature, engine on/off, equipment monitoring);
panic alarms for worker safety;
two-way messaging via MDT or personal digital assistant;
J1708 databus monitoring;
interoperability with any standard mobile data terminal or ruggedized PDA, or laptop and printers; and
battery backup in case of device disconnection during vehicle theft.
