SPARCO MANAGEMENT, GREATER PACIFIC FOOD HOLDINGS ACQUIRE MACFARMS OF HAWAII

Sparco Management, LLLP, an agribusiness/investment entity owned by Willard and Robert Sparks, and Greater Pacific Food Holdings (GPFH), with offices in Monterey and Sacramento, California, announced today that it has completed the purchase of MacFarms of Hawaii, Inc. from Blue Diamond Growers of California.

South Kona, Hawaii (PRWEB) July 2, 2003 - Sparco Management, LLLP, an agribusiness/investment entity owned by Willard and Robert Sparks, and Greater Pacific Food Holdings (GPFH), with offices in Monterey and Sacramento, California, announced today that it has completed the purchase of MacFarms of Hawaii, Inc. from Blue Diamond Growers of California. The terms of the transaction that formed MacFarms of Hawaii, LLC, were not disclosed.

MacFarms of Hawaii management and operations will continue in place and all existing employees have been hired by the new entity.

This combined ownership will avail MacFarms with additional skill sets and entrepreneurial experiences and also provide the company with a hands-on leadership group at the Board level," said MacFarms President Rick Vidgen. The entire staff and I are excited by the new opportunities this ownership offers and we look forward to being a stronger and more successful enterprise as a result."

MacFarms of Hawaii, an international leader in the macadamia nut industry, maintains one of the world's largest single macadamia nut orchards with nearly 4,000 acres on the South Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. It was founded in 1977 and currently employs 190 people in South Kona. MacFarms of Hawaii was recently ranked by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of the Top 250 Companies in Hawaii and the 11th largest business on the Big Island. MacFarms maintains offices in Honolulu, South Kona and Sacramento.

Sparks has been successful in many facets of food and agribusiness, including brokerage, agricultural research and consulting, row crop farming, cattle feeding, food manufacturing, investment and real estate. Greater Pacific Food Holdings successes are in sales, marketing and distribution of branded products to the specialty food and natural food industries.
