ELECTRONICS DISTRIBUTOR INDUSTRY MOURNS THE LOSS OF DAVE MCCARTHY OF POWELL ELECTRONICS
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 4, 2003 -- David McCarthy, Area Director of the Mid-South Region for Powell Electronics, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003 after a long illness. He was 54.
McCarthy joined the Powell Washington team in Beltsville, MD as an inside salesman in 1978, after having taught at Parkland Junior High School in Rockville, MD for almost four years.
In 1979, McCarthy helped open a new Powell branch office in Cary, NC, and was appointed Branch Manager. For the next 24 years, under McCarthys direction, the Cary, NC office was one of Powells most successful operations, in terms of both its business and its people.
In July 1997, McCarthy became Area Director of the Mid-South Atlantic states, responsible for sales, marketing, and financial operations in Maryland, the Virginias, and the Carolinas, including Powells branch operations in Maryland and North Carolina. He served in this position for the remainder of his career with Powell.
Ernie Schilling, President of Powell Electronics, said, Daves talents went far beyond his accomplishments as a successful businessman. Always the educator, he was constantly teaching and mentoring the people he oversaw in Powells Raleigh office, as well as his fellow managers within the Powell Electronics family. Were deeply saddened by this loss."
McCarthy is survived by his wife Pat and two children.
