BELLEVILLE, Ill (PRWEB) July, 2003 - Poetry can be seen as shards of expression, thoughts lumped together capturing a moment. The words of a verse can be called a prism of emotion, containing the heartache and joy, the love and hate, happiness and sadness. In his new book, Moments in Time ( now available through 1stBooks), author Robert Schmidt preserves pieces of love both bitter and sweet.

Schmidt presents an array of different emotions within his verse, but he mostly focuses on love. He examines the joy of love in all its splendor, but also the pain of love and the hollowness that follows.
Whether it is finding a true love or losing a love you thought was true, the poems expressed are feelings we all had at one time or another," Schmidt says.

Not excluding other emotions or themes, he includes a varied potpourri of verse. There are also patriotic poems as well as those reflecting and celebrating holidays. He also includes poems that pertain to the birth of a child and the pain of losing a loved one. The Halloween Dance" and Thanksgiving for Teddy the Turkey" are two lively poems also included.

Since he is recording moments in humans lives through verse; he has also included poems on a harrowing day in recent American history. "he September 11th poems are the feelings of America after the attack, with a tribute to police and firemen in 'American Hero. The poem 'Protecting Our Peace salutes the men and women who have served in all of Americas conflicts, with a 'Garden of Stone as a tribute to the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country," Schmidt says.

Simple and meaningful, Moments in Time is a book worth remembering.

Schmidt has been writing poetry for over 20 years, appearing in newspapers, magazines and various anthologies. He lives in southern Illinois, near St. Louis. An avid St. Louis Blues fan, he once wrote a poem entitled Oh Baby" in their honor. Moments in Time is his first published book with a second one planned for next year.
