METICULUS LAUNCHES RED LETTER SECURE EMAIL FOR UNIX

Extends benefits of secure, auditable, recorded delivery email

(PRWEB) July 5, 2003 - Meticulus Solutions today announced the availability of its Red Letter secure email system on the Unix platform. Red Letter is a secure, auditable and easy to use email solution that guarantees both security and proof of delivery. Previously delivered as a Linux appliance it is now also available as standalone software for the Sun Solaris, IBM AIX and HP-UX operating systems.

In its Unix implementation Red Letter is delivered as a software only solution, ready for installation on a hardware platform of the customers choice. Based around secure software situated within the senders firewall, Red Letter eliminates the security and confidentiality problems inherent in current email systems, without causing any disruption to either the sender or those receiving the email. Emails can be sent from any mail application, without having to install additional software and can be received in any SSL capable web browser.

The Linux version of Red Letter has achieved considerable sales success since its launch in January 2003," commented Ivan Harris, CEO, Meticulus. We have also found strong demand for our system in large enterprises where the IT department wants to be closely involved in the detail of the system implementation rather than simply purchasing an appliance. Our Unix offering meets this need and positions us to deliver on the very largest sites, extending the benefits of Red Letter to a significant new market sector."

Red Letter has enjoyed a fast take-up since its launch in January 2003, with legal customers such as Decherts, Bevan Ashford, Silverbeck Rymer and Watson, Farley & Williams having adopted the system and others trialling it. This highlights the need amongst law firms for a simpler solution to sending documents securely to replace the older, laborious post, fax and courier systems in place at many businesses.

Red Letter uses secure software situated within the senders firewall. Emails are composed as normal, and simply tagged to be sent by recorded delivery. Recipients then receive a notification email telling them they have new mail ready for collection and inviting the entry of a previously agreed password. On successful entry recipients receive their 128 bit SSL-secured email and any attachments in their web browser, ready to be printed or securely downloaded. The sender gets an automatic receipt once the email is accessed. No additional desktop software is installed and emails are protected using industrial strength encryption. Password-protected audit logs on the server keep full records of all secure emails sent.
