The Map Book To Be Available July 7
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) July 3, 2003 -- ENTRIX, Inc., a professional environmental consulting company, announced today that one of its maps has been selected to be published in ESRI's 2003 Map Book, Volume 18. The map, titled, "Instream Flow Claims for the Nez Perce Tribe in the Snake River Basin Adjudication of Water Rights," is among the more than 120 of the best digital maps created in 2002 chosen by ESRI's selection committee.
"We are delighted to be included in the Map Book," said Zoltan Der, GIS Specialist and co-author of the map. "At ENTRIX, we use GIS in many projects. It is an honor to be recognized by ESRI for our work."
Other authors were Jean Baldridge and Shruti Mukhtyar.
Using a database containing information on natural resources in the Salmon and Clearwater rivers, the map is utilized to direct land management activities and water allocations. The map segments the area into basins and illustrates the associated hydrology. Information concerning current and historical fish distribution and habitat relationships was also incorporated in order to assess the protection and recovery of threatened salmon and trout resources. With the map, ENTRIX consultants are equipped with important information for endangered species consultations, NEPA compliance, and development of various planning documents.
The Environmental Research Systems Institute (ESRI), a maker of GIS software, selected ENTRIX from more than 1000 entries. Map selection for the Map Book is based on the maps' graphic resolution, which industries they represent, and the types of applications they exhibit.
ESRI's 2003 Map Book, Volume 18 will be available beginning July 7 and distributed to attendees at this year's ESRI User Conference held in San Diego, CA, from July 7-11. For more information on ESRI, to order the Map Book, or view previous volumes, please visit www.esri.com/mapgallery.
