21 Year-Old Champion Cyclist Rahsaan Bahati Named As One of People Magazines 25 Hottest Bachelors

Hottie Young Indy Bachelor Rides for Americas Only Black Cycling Team

Indianapolis, IN -- July 7, 2003 -- Team Major Taylor, a bicycle racing team at Indiana University, is pleased to announce that Rahsaan Bahati has been chosen as one of the 25 hottest bachelors by People magazine.

Bahati has represented the United States at the World Championships for two consecutive years. He won the Junior National Road Racing, National Criterium and National Elite Criterium Championships in 2000. The 21 year-old is currently racing with Team Saturn in Los Angeles, California.

Bahatis Team Major Taylor recently finished in second place in the 2003 Little 500 bicycle race held in Bloomington, Indiana. The race was the third fastest race in the history of the Little 500. According to Courtney Bishop, the teams head coach, each team rider logged more than 15,000 miles in preparation for the April event.

Team Major Taylor is the only black cycling team in the United States and education is the teams focus. All team members are students at Indiana University and have achieved a combined grade point average of 2.8. The young team, composed of freshmen and sophomores, is preparing for a promising future. Other team members include: Steven Ballinger, Kenneth Burgess, Simeon Commissiong, Julio German and Joshua Weir. Tim Stockton is the teams Assistant Coach.

The team was named for Marshal W. Major" Taylor, a nineteen year-old grandson of slaves who became the fastest cyclist in the world in 1898. Taylor set seven world records and was known for his honor and dignity in the face of prejudice.

The Major Taylor Foundations estimated $100,000 budget is made up solely from contributions that must cover tuition, room and board, bikes, entry fees and training expenses. The Major Taylor Foundation was established in 2000 as a not-for-profit organization to support education, diversity and Team Major Taylor.

Contributions may be made to The Major Taylor Foundation, Inc., 30 East Georgia Street, Suite 208, Indianapolis, IN 46204. The teams Web site is www. Teammajortaylor.com.
