The 'Travel Writing Track will be a part of the 5-day Maui Writers Conference at the Wailea Marriott Resort over Labor Day Weekend (August 28-September 1.) 2. The Travel Writer's Tool-Kit: Learn about different styles of travel writing; the skills you need to succeed; where and how you can get them; developing contacts; and the truth about fact-checking, deadlines, insane travel itineraries, and editor-writer relationships.
3. A Guide to Travel Guides: Pick up tips on finding a publisher, creating your masterpiece, and marketing it to the world.
4. The Business of Travel Writing 101: A nuts-and-bolts session on querying an editor, finding markets for your work; negotiating a fee; understanding ownership rights; finding worthwhile press trips; and developing valuable contacts.
The Maui Writers Foundation, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Wailea Marriott Resort and Maui Visitors Bureau are sponsors of the Travel Writing track. It is an integral part of the 2003 Maui Writers Conference. The event includes 100+ important presenters-authors, agents, publishers, producers and editors-from the publishing and film industries. Once registered, attendees may attend workshops in any track during the 5-day event.
