ESRI and Ekahau Announce Partnership

Partnership designed to deliver location-based enterprise solutions for indoor WiFi networks

Saratoga, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2003 -- Ekahau, the world leading wireless positioning technology provider, today announced that it has joined to ESRIs business partner program. Together, ESRI and Ekahau will offer enterprise customers in government, homeland security, business, education, healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing with a turnkey solution for building location-based applications over WiFi networks.

Ekahaus Positioning Engine is the primary technology for indoor positioning over WiFi networks. The software accurately locates any WiFi enabled device such as wireless PDAs, laptops, and asset tags to 3 meters or less. Users of ESRIs ArcIMS will be able to make use of accurate location information from Positioning Engine to build indoor tracking applications, information services, and event-type emergency services applications.

Enterprise customers can also use Ekahaus Site Survey software, to plan and optimize Wi-Fi networks faster, and deliver better connectivity for wireless data and voice.

Says Jon Spinney, Industry Manager, Location-based Services, ESRI: Ekahaus ability to extract location from any standard Wi-Fi network with a software-only solution allows our existing enterprise customers to build a new breed of indoor GIS applications.

"Ekahau and ESRI will be able to empower new types of location-based applications for the office place, corporate campuses, hospitals, shopping malls, college campuses, airports, and more. Through our combined product offering, we can significantly enhance Wi-Fi capabilities, add value to existing wireless investments, and allow enterprises to develop GIS applications for indoor environments.

As the leading Wi-Fi location technology provider, Ekahau finds a very good synergy by working closely with industry leading GIS provider like ESRI. This is another step in proving our future vision of Ekahau as the location standard for Wi-Fi networks ", says Mr. Antti Korhonen, CEO of Ekahau.

Ekahau-ESRI combined location-based solution is demonstrated live on Ekahau booth #111 at ESRI User Conference, San Diego, CA, on July 7-11th. More information: http://www.esri.com/events/uc/index.html
