Buddy System Soothes Relocation Blues for Women Moving To The U.S.
Companies spend thousands of dollars bringing top employees into their companies from other areas. With the prospect of a better life, families will uproot and move not only to new cities, but around the globe in a bid to find their own utopia. Sadly though, statistics have shown that the number one reason why assignments still fail (over 92%) is due to the partner, (in most cases the woman) being unable to adapt to her new surroundings.
Ashley Lewis is all too familiar with the ups and downs of moving. Relocating over 20 times across the globe, she has gained enormous insight into the dilemmas that woman face when adjusting to a new environment. Isolation and beginning the difficult task of forming new friends is still one of the most challenging aspects of moving that many women face. The one thing she has learned from her years on the move is that the fastest way to settle into a new area is to have a sense of community. For those who have strong associations to a particular interest, group it can be easier (church groups or sporting groups for instance). For those who do not fall into this category, and there are many, the road to settling in can be long, lonely and hard as you try to find like-minded new friends.
In a bid to address this need in our communities, Ashley Lewis, a professional life coach and President of Trans4mations, has launched a new program for woman who are about embark upon or who are adjusting to, a national or international move.
Women will have the opportunity to connect with others who share their interests and have access to a range of information, tips and coaching programs all designed to enhance their lives. Participants will have access to their own online members area where they can meet new buddies, list events, have discussions with others, and participate in tele-classes covering a variety of topics. They will find useful information that will help them adapt faster to culture shock, homesickness and the challenge of building a new life in a new location.
It has not been Ashley's experience that people are unwilling to welcome outsiders from other cities. Its more a case of women already juggling so many areas in their own lives that prevents them being able to commit to the time that it can often take to develop and pursue new friendships on a deeper level.
This program is designed to connect women who have the same need....to meet some like-minded new friends!
It is true what they say. Great friends really do make a good life wonderful.
