Playhouse Merced Announces Its
10th Anniversary Season
This milestone season brings new shows, popular productions, and classic performances for theater fans of all ages
Merced, CA (PRWEB) July 13, 2003 - Playhouse Merceds talented acting, visionary directing and creative set and costume design is making a mark on Californias Central Valley and beyond.
The 2003-2004 season brings eight blockbuster main stage shows, four thought-provoking alternate season" shows and two special limited-run productions to Merced starting in September 2003.
This, our 10th anniversary season will be our best yet," says Claude Giroux, Managing Artistic Director at Playhouse Merced. The sheer variety of productions means we have something for everyone... drama, comedy and of course, musicals. Both Chess and A Chorus Line are 10-year revivals for the Playhouse."
The four alternate season shows present unique opportunities for theater patrons to experience themes of life and love delivered with biting satire, brutally honest commentary, and thoughtful drama.
The focus of the alternate season is on the skills of the directors and the actors," says Jerry Deal, general manager and star of Fully Committed, one of the alternate season performances. These contemporary plays explore new dramatic forms and big ideas that reflect our modern world."
The Mainzer Theatre, located just a few blocks from Playhouse Merced on the corner of N" Street and Main in Merced, hosts the alternate season productions. Due to strong language or adult themes, these productions are intended for more mature audiences.
By the Hand of the Father, presented in part by funds from the James Irvine Foundation, is a limited-run production that explores the often-complex relationships between immigrant fathers and their children. This vivid, multimedia experience passionately evokes the Mexican-American experience in this soulful, uplifting, celebratory and moving piece about family, identity, place, racism and spirit.
