People's Pilot Competition Gives African American Writer Chance to Chance the Complexion of Network Television
Writing contest gives birth to aspiring African American writer's dreams who may see one or two of his dramatic TV series ideas on network television.
(PRWEB) July 13, 2003 -- Aspiring African American writer, Angelo J. Bell, is in great position to get one of his two dramatic TV series ideas on the air!
Out of 238 submissions that were entered into the first segment of the bi-annual PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITION, Angelo Bell is the only finalist (of 23 remaining) to have two proposals reach the finals.
Although Angelo is very excited about being so close to fulfilling his dream of screenwriting, he's even more excited about the far-reaching affects of becoming writer/producer for a primetime television series.
"I've always heard that in order to get more people of color in front of the cameras you have to get more people of color behind the camera," said Angelo. "With a win in the PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITION and if my ideas are picked, I'll be able to do that. The characters in my series proposals are as diverse and 'colorful' as the world we live in."
Indeed! Angelo's TV series proposals consist of the adult drama series THINKERS and the more youthful, Y-SQUAD.
In May, a PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITION finalist sold a TV series idea to the revamped Spike TV (formerly TNN).

TVwriter.com and Larry Brody (writer for THE FALL GUY) sponsors the bi-annual PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITION for aspiring TV writers. Since the networks and cable channels have two pilot development seasons each year, two PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITIONS are held as well.
The winners of the PEOPLE'S PILOT COMPETITION will be working with the Terry Porter Agency and Pendle View LLC, a new company actively looking for new series projects and new writers to work on them.
The people behind Pendle View have developed 15 produced feature films and documentaries for Blue Rider Pictures, Artisan Entertainment, Showtime Networks, Hearst Entertainment, Trimark Pictures, ABC Family Channel, and others in the past five years, and are now branching out into TV series development.
The company has over 30 projects in active development, with more on the way. -- For more information, visit http://www.tvwriter.com/peoplespilot/
