About the Book
Each evening, suburban father Peter McKay entertained his wife and five children at the dinner table with his smart aleck stories. At the request of his family, he stopped talking so much during dinner and let them chew in peace. Instead, he began to write his comments in the form of a weekly column about life in the "Nuthouse."
"Welcome to the Nuthouse!" chronicles a year in the life of a typical suburban family, complete with attacking squirrels, exploding pipes, beheaded mice, and misguided and somewhat dangerous home repair projects. Some columns are funny, while others are more touching. But all of it will remind you that life is a series of events, big and small, poignant and hilarious, touching and embarrassing. Documenting the days of his life, Peter McKay reminds us that we should all keep track of what happens in our family lives so that we can use it against our kids some day.
