FREELANCE WRITER OPENS DOORS TO SERVE BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS

A Miami freelance writer announces her new business, dedicated to providing businesses and nonprofits with exceptional writing.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 13, 2003 -- Miami freelance writer Vanessa Leon has opened a writing and design business, called Vanessa Leon Writing & Design, to serve businesses of all sizes and nonprofit organizations. Ms. Leon is focusing on writing tasks organizations may find difficult or simply too time-consuming. "I can write just about anything, including newsletters, ezines (online electronic newsletters), web content, press releases, articles and a lot more," Ms. Leon said. "My goal is to help organizations of all kinds to better meet their goals and serve their customers through good, solid writing."

Ms. Leon decided to focus on both businesses and nonprofit organizations because of her career experience in both situations. "I've worked in the corporate world and the nonprofit world," Ms. Leon said. "I learned a lot from both, and I have a lot to offer both." The two types of organizations often have different needs and priorities, a challenge for which Ms. Leon says she is prepared. "Nonprofits need to communicate their good works and attract donors," she explained. "Businesses often have more diverse needs, including internal communication and external marketing."

Ms. Leon says she has been a writer all her life, but it took a crisis to convince her to open her own writing and design business. "I was working for a transcription company, assigned to local Spanish news broadcasts, when I was suddenly laid off. After the shock wore off, it became clear to me that this was a chance to do something I was good at and loved dearly: write."

Ms. Leon, originally from Connecticut, has been living in Miami for the past 8 years. She previously worked for Beckman Coulter, Inc., a local medical equipment supply firm, and The Nature Conservancy, a large environmental nonprofit dedicated to saving tracts of land. Ms. Leon has a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Environmental Science, as well.
