Following the huge success of The Daisy Chain monthly newsletter for parents, Los Angeles mothers Sally Newens and Patricia Curran are now reaching out to parents in other communities. The Daisy Chain's new online Parenting Resource Center, allows Los Angeles parents to easily access information on activities, events, and resources in their local area.
Frustrated at how difficult it was to find information on activities, events and resources in their neighborhood, local stay-at-home mothers, Sally Newens and Patricia Curran, founded The Daisy Chain newsletter 8 years ago. They folded all 10,000 copies of the first edition in SallyÂs living room and then loaded their cars and hit the streets, delivering them to all the preschools, day care centers, libraries, pediatricians, OB/GYN offices, malls, parks, YMCAÂs and anywhere else that catered to families.
The response was immediate; moms loved the wealth of local information and the down-to-earth approach. Overflowing with details of local family activities and events, childcare facilities and parenting resources The Daisy Chain monthly newsletter rapidly became THE local resource for parents in the South Bay community of Los Angeles.
With the success of the South Bay issue, they launched a second area issue in 1997. Today, they distribute 20,000 copies monthly throughout Los Angeles. As both their children and their business has grown, The Daisy Chain publishers have graduated from meetings on park benches to their new office in Redondo Beach.
In response to many, many requests from parents in surrounding areas, The Daisy Chain is now reaching out to families in other neighborhoods, providing them with the same great information for their local area through the amazing new online Parenting Resource Center http://www.thedaisychain.com.
Whether looking for the schedule of storytimes at your local library, Home Day Care providers in your neighborhood, local moms groups or just another mom to listen to your concerns or frustrations, http://www.thedaisychain.com is the place to go.
Parents are using the message boards to buy and sell their gently used baby and kids items locally, and trade referrals. Parents can register online for free and will automatically receive The Daisy Chain's up-to-the-minute weekly e-Newsletter which features activities and events for the week, information on local family resources and spotlights message board threads posted by other local parents.
