Full Dynamic Reconfiguration Capabilities Added to the Free Trial AnadigmDesigner®2 v2.3 Software EDA Software Also Adds New Drag-and-Drop Analog Functions

Now designers can try dynamically reconfigurable programmable analog for free.

(PRWEB) July 16, 2003 -- A new version of the programmable analog EDA tool AnadigmDesigner®2 being announced today provides trial users full access to all the softwares features, including the ability to construct circuits that can be reconfigured on the fly by a system microprocessor. AnadigmDesigner®2 v2.3 further automates the analog design process with additional new Configurable Analog Modules (CAMs) that users drag and drop to build a complex analog circuit.

Dynamic reconfiguration is a totally new capability for programmable analog circuits, and system designers are seeing its potential to reduce the cost of designing, customizing, and supporting their products," said Brian Hodges, vice president of worldwide marketing at Anadigm®. Theyre eager to see it in action, so now were including this feature within every trial copy of AnadigmDesigner®2."

Giving designers an analog equivalent to the FPGA, dynamically reconfigurable FPAAs from Anadigm® implement signal conditioning, complex filtering, closed-loop control, and other analog applications in a wide range of embedded systems. They are the first programmable analog ICs on the market that can adapt within the system to perform different functions, adjust to different environmental conditions, or compensate for sensor degradation.

The AnadigmDesigner®2 EDA tool allows designers to construct circuits using pre-qualified, drag-and-drop CAMs for which they set the parameters. AnadigmAssistant tools included with AnadigmDesigner®2 v.2.3 further abstract the analog design process to the functional level by automating the construction of complex filters and PID (proportional, integral, derivative) controllers.

For this version of AnadigmDesigner®2, Anadigm® is adding to its already comprehensive CAM library three new functions: the transimpedance amplifier, the gain limiter stage, and the gain switch. These CAMs will help further the adoption of the FPAA technology in various industrial, medical, and communications segments.
The transimpedance amplifier CAM is aimed at systems with a photodiode interface - such as medical diagnostic or currency validation equipment - where it allows the FPAA to convert an input current into an output voltage.

AnadigmDesigner®2 users simply point and click to set the ratio of the current-to-voltage conversion. The gain limiter CAM creates an adjustable gain function such that the output voltage is limited to a programmable level. As a result, the gain stage has a continuous input and continuous output that are always valid. The gain switch CAM creates a gain stage with two switchable input terminals.

A multimedia demonstration of AnadigmDesigner®2 v2.3 can be viewed at the Anadigm® Web site at www.anadigm.com. A free trial copy of AnadigmDesigner®2 v2.3 is available for download on the Anadigm website. A complete evaluation kit with a development board, entry-level software, and updated documentation is now available at a promotional price of $199. Pricing for the FPAA silicon starts at $6.45 in 10,000-piece quantities.

About Anadigm®

Anadigm® brings platform-based design to the analog world with pre-qualified software and hardware components that allow complex analog circuits to be implemented in an analog equivalent to the FPGA. Designed to implement signal conditioning, filtering, data acquisition, closed-loop control, and other analog functions in a wide range of embedded systems, Anadigm® FPAAs are first programmable analog ICs that can adapt on the fly to perform multiple functions, adjust to different environmental conditions, or compensate for equipment aging. Founded in January 2000 as a venture-backed technology spin-off from Motorola, Anadigm® maintains U.S. headquarters in Campbell, Calif., and European headquarters in Crewe, U.K. For further information, visit Anadigm® on the Web at www.anadigm.com.
