My Daughter's Keeper, Inc. Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Mothers/caregivers and their daughters, community partners, volunteers and platinum R&B group 3LW will join the 1st Anniversary celebration.

North Brunswick, NJ (PRWEB) July 16, 2003 -- My Daughter's Keeper, Inc. (MDK) will celebrate its 1st Anniversary on Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Cranbury Golf Club in West Windsor, NJ from 11:00 a.m.-3:00p.m. Mothers/caregivers and their daughters, community partners, volunteers, and platinum R&B group 3LW (Three Little Women) will be part of the festivities. Cranbury Golf Club, located at 49 Southfield Road in West Windsor, NJ, is sponsoring the event and will also provide a free golf clinic and round of holes for the girls. MDK will also officially announce its partnership with the platinum R&B group 3LW as well as introduce its community business partners. A complimentary BBQ and entertainment, door prizes and special presentations are included.

"We are very proud of the work we have been able to accomplish and the lives that we have been able to positively impact through our programs in such a short period of time. Young women and men are our future. We need to give them the support, and the knowledge that they need to succeed in today's world that sometimes can be a challenging environment."

Joining MDK's 1st Anniversary celebration is the platinum R&B group 3LW (Three Little Women) who will officially announce their partnership with My Daughter's Keeper, Inc. The group will work with MDK to help increase visibility, raise funds, and to help promote the importance of positive self-esteem among middle and high school girls when MDK & 3LW launches the "Free to Love Me" School Tour during the 2003-2004 school year. "We are excited to be a part of My Daughter's Keeper and we look forward to participating in MDK's programs and activities to help address the needs and issues of teen girls,' says Michelle Williams, 3LW's manager. 3LW members include Adrienne, Kiely and Jessica who are all teenage girls. Vanessa Baker, Miss New Jersey 2003 will also be attendance and will address the girls on the importance of body image and self-esteem. MDK will also acknowledge and thank its volunteers who have supported the organization during its first year of operation.

Admission to attend MDK's 1st Anniversary Celebration is free, however, adults are encouraged to give an anniversary gift to help support MDK's programs. The event is open to the general public. Founded in 2002, My Daughterˇ¦s Keeper, Inc. (MDK) is a 501(c)(3) educational and self-development non-profit organization, based in Central New Jersey, created to provide support and resources to mothers/caregivers and their daughters (ages 10-17) to help strengthen their relationships, as well as identify solutions to problems they may face in their daily lives. Some of our first year accomplishments include:
>   MDK has provided clothing, accessories and furnishings to over 50 women and their families and teenage girls in the New Jersey area.
>   MDK's ReadwRiters Club averages 35-40 young ladies who actively participate in the monthly reading & writing club meetings. Club members come from various backgrounds and reside in Central, North and South Jersey communities.
>   MDK presented its "Make a Date with Your Daughter" workshop in conjunction with the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick in April 2003. Funded in part by the State Street Foundation.
>   MDK has over 75 mothers and daughters that are currently part of our network through their participation in programs or by receiving services or support.
>   MDK has recruited twenty (20) active volunteers.
>   MDK has secured a partnership with 3LW (Three Little Women), a platinum R&B group, who will work with MDK to visit NJ schools beginning in September 2003 to address the importance of Self-Love, Self-Respect & Self-Esteem to middle and high school girls on "The Free to Love Me" School Tour.
>   MDK has secured a partnership with Access Self Storage in North Brunswick, which has donated storage space for MDK's Sister's Exchange program.
>   MDK launched its Caregivers Connection program in June 2003, a support network for parents raising daughters which meets monthly to address issues and concerns and to identify solutions to problems parents may be facing raising their teenage daughters.
>   To date, MDK has received financial support from the State Street Foundation; individual donors; and 3LW. Several other grant requests are pending.

Founded in 2002, MDK, Inc. is an educational and self-development 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to provide support and resources to mothers/caregivers and their daughters (ages 10-17) to help strengthen their relationships, as well as identify solutions to problems such as: communications, teen pregnancy, peer pressure, substance abuse, parenting, etc. MDK works to encourage and empower mothers/caregivers to accept and take responsibility for raising their daughters to become productive, confident, and self-respecting young ladies.
