FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Struggling Artists Waiting for their Big Break: Discover DCs Rising Stars

Singing Servers Nightly in Washington DC

WASHINGTON: You be the judge: There is nothing idol" about the singing-servers at Mimis American Bistro located on P Street NW of Dupont Circle. Performing nightly, these divas in the district have made their mark on the community, becoming a favorite among Dupont establishments.

Ever since its inception on September 25, 2000, Mimi's, American Bistro has hired and featured servers who have a multitude of talents. They sing, dance and play the piano between serving diners. The entertainment usually begins around 7:00 PM and continues throughout the evening.

Another creation by restaurant guru Andy Shallal, Thomas Head of the Washingtonian wrote, Andy Shallal has the business equivalent of perfect pitch when it comes to Dupont Circle restaurants." Shallal is also the proud owner of Luna Grill and Diner on Connecticut Avenue.

Top-notch professional talent is pooled from the area with vigorous auditions for a spot on the floor. Many people are turned away. "The level of talent we have is outstanding," said Shallal. "For everyone we accept, we probably turn away seven or eight. We're always looking for new talent and new faces. We try to maintain a standard here." This fall, two Mimis staffers will be leaving to go tour. James Harris will be performing in the Lion King in a featured role, touring abroad in Germany. Josh Davis will be leaving for a National Opera Tour with the Kennedy Center in the fall where he will be performing in The Emperoršs New Clothes. Many people have obtained jobs from unexpected customers recommending them to sing at benefits and private parties.

Mimis boasts an eclectic menu" with a slight Mediterranean influence while entertaining its customers with the melodic sounds of jazz, musical theater, pop, and opera. Eve Zibart of the Washington Post called Mimi's "The perfect Dupont Circle hangout." In a recent July 4th review Zibart writes, (the new menu) has a comfy versatility that goes ideally with summer dining and leisurely cocktailing."

Enjoy the delights a large variety of items to choose from at Mimi's; aged filet with wild mushrooms, duck with Japanese 5 spice sauce, roasted polenta and much more. The price is moderate, entrees range from $15-26, sandwiches and lighter fare $6-14. Mimis uses Tuscarora Organic Co-Op locally grown produce and organic eggs and has many vegetarian options. These waiters sing for your supper so you dont have to. Come see Mimis unplugged: a professional performance in your local restaurant nightly.
