Soliton Systems, Inc. announces Net'Attest EPS for the North American market - EAP Policy Server Appliance for complete Authentication in one box
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2003 - Soliton Systems, Inc. Japan's leading systems developer and network systems integrator, today announced the availability of its new product -Net'Attest EPS, (http://www.solitonsys.com/products/eps/) for the North American Market.
Wireless LANs are becoming widely used for networks at public facilities and university campuses, for hotspots and for company networks. However, their vulnerability has also been pointed out, and a solution is needed that assures the security of information assets whether a system is wired or wireless.
One countermeasure is to perform network access authentication and communication control for each user (IEEE802.1x) and to use an advanced certificate based authentication environment. However, since this method requires advanced technical knowledge, this is considered difficult to implement. Net'Attest EPS resolves these issues.
Net'Attest EPS, which consolidates into a single unit all the server functions needed for the IEEE802.1x authentication environment, is the world's first appliance EAP authentication server product, and it was developed independently by Soliton.
Not only are an EAP own the feature such as compatible RADIUS server, private CA , user directory LDAP server and DHCP server functions, but all of these can be configured instinctively and built easily using a web based GUI.
This allows creation and operation of a PKI authentication environment at a dramatically lower cost than the conventional method, allowing broader provision of enhanced security based on PKI authentication. This concept has been given high marks in the market since it was released in Japan in January 2003, and we have received many inquiries from companies, universities and research organizations.
Net'Attest EPS will help in the following areas:
-Enhancing security for vulnerable wireless LANs
-Realizing an Authentication VLAN that assigns a VLAN to each user
-Improving authentication for VPN connections at an advanced level using certificates
Especially with the infiltration of ubiquitous computing, wireless LANs are becoming popular because they make network use possible from any location. On the flip side, from the perspective that anyone can gain access, security problems have been indicated, and there are cases of people refraining from using wireless LANs because of this. With Net'Attest EPS, it is possible to provide an effective solution that assures high-level security while retaining the convenience of using a wireless LAN.
[Supports CISCO-LEAP]
CISCO-LEAP is an IEEE802.1x authentication protocol offered by Cisco Systems, and is an authentication method that is supported by Aironet for wireless LAN products. We have developed Net'Attest EPS based on an agreement with Cisco Systems.
