Chicago, Il. (PRWEB) July 18, 2003 - Democratic candidate for US Senate Joyce Washington has deposited over $500,000 since launching her campaign in April.
Washington Reports over $500,000 in total receipts for 2nd quarter fundraising numbers.
I am so glad to have received the support of so many during the last quarter. I am particularly excited to see that my campaign is bringing so many new people into the political process, new people who share my desire to end politics as usual in the US Senate," said Washington.
And while fundraising is an unpleasant necessity in politics today, I am pleased with our success. But my campaign is not about money. Its about creating jobs for those who do not have one, providing access to affordable health care to the uninsured, and tackling the affordable housing crisis we are facing in Chicago and other urban areas of Illinois," continued Washington.
Washington deposited $325,811 in the second quarter. She has deposited $501,000 to date. Her campaign has $439,293 on hand.
Campaign spokesperson Ken Morley said, Im very happy with the numbers we reported. We are confident that Joyce will have the resources she needs to communicate her vision into every city and town in Illinois. This is a grass root campaign that does not rely on the cozy relationship between a career politician and special interest moneymen.
This is about real folks facing real challenges who are sick and tired of politics as usual in Washington. Money cant buy you vision. And money cant buy you passion. Thats the difference between Joyce and all the lawyers, career politicians and mega-millionaires in this race."
Joyce Washington is a Democratic candidate for US Senate. Joyce has worked in health care for over 20 years, with experience ranging for serving as an emergency room nurse to serving as a senior executive responsible for multimillion dollar budgets.
When elected, Joyce Washington will make history as only the second African American woman ever to serve in the US Senate. There are currently no African Americans and only 14 women in the senate.
