56 Year Old Finds Fountain of Youth.
The 56 year old, Albert Miniaci, could hardly perform 20 push-ups and jog 100 yards at the beginning of his training. After four months of training with Bob Weinstein, The Health Colonel, he went down three pant sizes, his body composition improved and his energy level increased. This is the story about how Albert achieved such extraordinary results. This is a great workout for those traveling to Fort Lauderdale on business or vacation. (PRWEB) July 20, 2003 -- No more excuses! No crybabies! No slackers! An "old" soldier "whips" the civilians into shape with a fun and challenging military-style complete body workout on Fort Lauderdale beach designed for all fitness levels. His name is Bob Weinstein.
The man now dubbed “The 600 Push-up Man” is Albert Miniaci, 56 years old, happily married to Beatriz with a teenage son and daughter. He owns his own business and has been very successful. Albert is a big man, over 6 feet tall and weighing in at well over 200 pounds. He used to play football in high school. Coming from an Italian background, he loves wholesome Italian food and eats out frequently with friends, family and business partners. He worked out in the gym on a relatively regular basis. He noticed some progress but not what he would like to achieve. Eating out frequently has been a special challenge for him and he accumulated, especially around the midsection, a lot of extra body fat. He needed a new challenge in life so he decided to climb the Kilimanjaro with an elevation of over 19,340 feet. This decision became the catalyst to improve his fitness level. After discussing this with his wife, Beatriz, she replied: “Albert that’s a big mountain. You might want to get on a special workout program. I don’t want anything to happen to you. You know you’re not as young as you used to be. Why not try this trainer who trains on the beach?” Albert agrees and a 4 month training program with the Health Colonel begins.
Shortly before training started, Bob sat down with Albert and Beatriz to further discuss how the training would be conducted. Albert asks, “Well, what is it you’re going to do to me? You know I’m not used to jogging or running, especially in the sand.” Bob reassures Albert, “That’s not a problem at all. It makes no difference what your present fitness level is. And there’s lots of variety with the training. That keeps it fun and interesting. No two workouts are identical. It’s all about a journey which starts where you are now and moves you forward from there. I will take you out of your comfort zone while offering you brief opportunities to recover just enough to keep you on track with progress.” This will be a complete body workout using body weight exercises while incorporating a very portable resistance band for extra upper body variety. A snapshot of the workout would be … jumping jacks, stretch, jog, push-ups, stretch, jog, squats, stretch, jog, shoulder press, stretch, jog, lunges … all with varying intensity and frequency. The workout includes cardio, strength, flexibility and agility training. Bob further explains that he trains with his clients, which allows him to be especially in touch with the client’s fatigue level. The training is dynamic and never static. It is constantly focused on progress, which is the individual progress of the client. Like the Health Colonel, Albert decides that he wants to train using military-style boots that are good for running.
After the first few weeks of training to allow Albert an opportunity to adapt and allow Bob to “feel” where Albert is at, the first fitness test was conducted which included push-ups, crunches, 1 mile run and bench dips. He was tested three times in the course of his training and made exceptional progress. There were four training sessions per week, each initially lasting 60 minutes and then increased to 90 minutes. New goals to shoot for were always established before and after each fitness test. The results for all three tests: Push-ups 41-60-78; Crunches 80-120-169; Dips 55-120-150; 1 mile run 10:10 min. – 8:41 min. – 8:10 min.. For the push-ups, crunches and dips Albert had two minutes to do as many as he could.
About 10 weeks into training, he made such great progress in the overall workouts, he successfully completed a six mile jog in the sand with combat (!) boots. He gradually worked up to this point. As Bob and Albert were jogging back to the starting point, Bob says to Albert “If you can run 6 miles, you can run 10. And this will burn lots of calories and help get rid of that extra body fat.” Albert says, “I’ll do it!” On May 1st they start at 5 in the morning on the long journey from the Swimming Hall of Fame to the Commercial Boulevard pier and back. “On our way back, about 8 miles into the run, I turn to Albert and ask … Albert do you realize you are going to be 60 years old in four years? Look at what you are doing!” Both laugh and Albert says, “I’ve never done this before!”
The other highlight of Albert’s training was the completion of 600 push-ups within a 90 minute workout session in sets of 10, 20, 30 and 40 with varying intensity, “spiced” with jogging and some additional resistance band work to keep it challenging and rigorous. Over a four week time period, starting around the end of April, once a week, Albert performed 600 push-ups in this fashion. Albert would jokingly comment during these push-up sessions “And I actually pay you to do this to me!”.
It doesn't matter whether you are a couch potato with expert channel surfing skills and frequent refrigerator "sprints" or a gym rat who is not able to do cardio more than 5 minutes because of all that iron pumping. It doesn't matter whether you want to lose weight, gain muscle, firm up abs, triceps or butt or work on the cardio. You'll get it all at Beach Boot Camp on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Retired army Lieutenant Colonel Bob Weinstein, who is 52 years "young", introduces the civilians to his style of staying in shape and keeping it that way. His workout turns back the biological clock. New years resolutions and gym visits have not brought about the necessary physical and mental change to sustain good eating and exercise habits. "The buck stops here!" Your mind and body will be "reformed" to achieve those results you have always wanted but kept telling yourself "that's not possible for me."

Albert says, “This is the most fun I’ve had exercising and I’ve never made such progress before. Anyone can do this. All they have to do is just show up.” He has made it his lifetime goal to stay physically and mentally young while aging. Albert has found the fountain of youth.
As The Health Colonel says, "When you're in shape, life's a beach.".
