The National Conference on Advances in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care has certified successful completion by Karen Fields, M.S.P.A.S., PA-C, who practices medical excellence in Orthopaedics & Sports medicine with Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Joseph McCormick, MD at St. Elizabeth Hospital, a member of the Affinity Health System, in Appleton, Wisconsin, upon successful completion through participation in The National Conference on Advances in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care, on July 19 to 20, 2003 held in Chicago, Illinois, sponsored by Olive View-UCLA Department of Emergency Medicine and The American College of Emergency Physicians state chapter of California.

At Affinity's St. Elizabeth Hospital, Karen is noted as providing high quality care to new and existing patients, pre-operative care, post-operative care, and Emergency Department and hospital consultations, serving as Surgical First Assist. Her medical practice centers around sports medicine, osteoarthritis, and pediatrics. Common problems and surgeries include knee and shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, total knee, shoulder and hip replacements, and fracture care. Fields recently in joint efforts with Dr. McCormick, researched and implemented the osteoporosis prevention and treatment program for the Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine practice, and was a presenter in a community presentations on Osteoporosis, in Arthritis, Pain and treatment with Dr. Dan Metz, MD, and Dr. Brett Young, MD, who are also Orthopaedic Surgeons with Affinity.

Karen Fields, PA-C, graduated with a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies with Distinction, from Arcadia University, Glenside, Pennsylvania, where she was further honored as a member of the Alpha Epsilon Lambda- Phi Chapter of Graduate National Honors Society, Graduate Dean's List, and winning the highly esteemed Physician Assistant's Academic Coordinator's Award. Karen Fields is nationally certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, having achieved a high score of 728 of a possible 750 points, and is certified by the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board to practice medicine, as a Physician Assistant.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS [PAs]: Are rigorously medically trained similar to doctors in scope and practice, and are licensed advanced medical professionals who establish and build a medical practice diagnosing and treating their own patient roster.
