Call for Papers/Presentations/Performers/Film Submissions/Delegates/Exhibitors/Vendors/Sponsors/Advertisers/Volunteers/Interns

Dear Friends/Colleagues!
Woman and Earth is pleased and delighted to announce its plans for its Seventh Annual World Conference and Expo, "Women: Personal is Political, Local is Global" and International Film Festival, "Empowering Women, Empowering the Earth" to be held December 8-10, 2003 at Nevskij Palace Hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia in celebration of the 300th Anniversary of the founding of S t. Petersburg. We look forward to welcoming again those of you among the participants from many countries who have joined in making our world programs held on these dates in Europe and Africa for the last few years, a fulfilling experience. We are also excited to invite and include more new leaders!
Please contact us to advise us of your plans to participate and send us proposals for presentations/papers/performances for the Conference AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to ensure that your participation is everything you want it to be. (SPACE IS LIMITED AND ALL PARTICIPATION REQUESTS HANDLED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS).
Our Conference seeks to provide an expansive meaning to the Beijing and Vienna declarations that "womens rights are human rights" by providing gender empowerment strategies on ALL aspects of and affecting womens lives and ON WHAT WOMEN VALUE -- a healthy and sustainable planet. Thus, presentations which include a focus on providing real or proposed gender empowerment strategies being or which need to be implemented within your community are appreciated -- and also in line with our mission and goal of this Conference, we are interested in linking your topic to address the needs of Russian speaking women. This year also marks the 23rd Anniversary of Woman and Earths founder Tatyana Mamonovas exile from her native Russia for defending the human rights of women by providing a forum of information education and communication connecting Soviet womens voices with the voices of women throughout the world. Tatyana Mamonova remains stripped of her citizenship in violation of international human rights law and the law of the Russian Federation. Woman and Earth therefore welcomes proposals which set forth empowerment strategies for addressing the concept of womens citizenship and offering strategies for restoring Tatyana Mamonovas Russian citizenship and for understanding the meaning of and advocating for womens citizenship. Contributions are also welcome from the many women leaders who have shown their solidarity to our founder and our organization these past 24 years. In this latter instance, the Conference provides an excellent opportunity to document your role within these 23 years of exile for preserving the Russian and international womens movement and it is hoped that your example will provide an opportunity to develop a strategy for stopping this human rights abuse.
Conference topics include Women and Politics/Public Lives, Women and Economic Development, Women in Business/Entrepreneurship, Women in the Arts and Literature, Goddess Spirituality, Women and Ecology, Women and Health, Women and Media, Women and Violence, Women and Technology, Women and Human Rights and more. Presentation proposals should specify the format you wish to present (plenary/workshop/roundtable), equipment needs, language you wish to present (Conference will be held in English and Russian) and proposed length of presentation. Our Conference also incorporates cultural contributions so performers, please be sure to send us your bio, samples of your work, description of your talents and performance proposal. Woman and Earth has been blessed with incredible talent from the music, theatre and art world, etc. throughout the years and this is truly enriching for our delegates.
We are also interested in receiving your responses from those of you who seek to attend, take part in our film festival and expo, volunteer, intern, sponsor or advertise.
For all those interested, please be sure to provide us with your mailing address, telephone, fax numbers, e-mail, organization or group name where applicable, and to what extent you would like to be part of this years program. We will send all those who respond follow-up information -- including discounted TRAVEL opportunities we are now negotiating with our Conference Airline LUFTHANSA, our Sponsor Venue NEVSKIJ PALACE HOTEL and other updates. PLEASE POST THIS MESSAGE AND SHARE WITH INTERESTED MEMBERS OF YOUR NETWORK.
We look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming you in St. Petersburg. (For those of you who joined us at our First Woman and Earth Conference in 1997 this will be a BRAND NEW EXPERIENCE and exciting opportunity to see first hand the plethora of changes that have taken place in St. Petersburg.)
