Setting Fire to Moments of Truth
Romanian For Sale deals with Romanian politics and current world politics, perceptions of poetry and poets, philosophical ideas such as ‘nothingness’, and the life of the writer, Bogdan Tiganov, in England, Canada and Romania. Romanian For Sale is also a controversial collection of poetry written for ordinary people who find poetry hard to grasp.
Outsiders find self-expression a difficult task because they have too many real problems, such as where to live, burdening them. Bogdan Tiganov has had experience of living as an outsider for eleven years as a refugee but he learnt to survive through experimentation using different media such as writing, art and music. Romanian For Sale contains fearless modern poems written from an outsider’s view. The poems are constructed from vivid emotions, images and storytelling, bringing them closer to more popular forms of entertainment, such as popular music. Bogdan Tiganov also writes about ‘moments of truth’, these being supremely serene moments in life when one sees reality without any attachments.
