To Work or Not to Work, That Is the Question. New book Helps Parents Decide If Staying At Home Is Right For Them.

Expectant and new parents are faced with many decisions when they introduce a child into the world. One of the hardest is determining whether to continue their careers or stay at home. An October 2001 report from the U.S. Census Bureau states, From 1998 to 2000, the overall labor force participation rate of mothers with infants dropped from 59 percent to 55 percent." This drop indicates that parents are once again considering the at-home parent option when raising their children. Kris Berggrens new book, Strategies for Stay-at-Home Parents (Meadowbrook Press), helps parents decide if staying at home is right for them and provides information to be a successful at-home parent.

(PRWEB) July 30, 2003 -- Expectant and new parents are faced with many decisions when they introduce a child into the world.

Strategies for Stay-at-Home Parents addresses the various factors that affect parents decisions to stay at home including careers, temperaments, finances, values and overall family dynamics. Once it is decided that a parent should stay at home, the book provides information on deciding who should stay home, transitioning from two incomes to one, practical at-home parenting issues, acknowledging the stay-at-home parents needs and information on transitioning back to a profession.

Before writing Strategies for Stay-at-Home Parents, Beggren interviewed many at-home parents to ensure the book addressed all of the factors involved in the decision-making process and helped parents with the experience of staying at home with their children. The book was also reviewed and improved by at-home parents before publication making it one of the most comprehensive books in its category.

A parents decision to stay at home is one that cannot be taken lightly," states Berggren. Being a stay-at-home mother, I wrote this book from both my personal experiences and from those that I interviewed in order to guide parents through a decision that can be extremely difficult."

Strategies for Stay-at-Home Parents retails for $9.00 and is available at bookstores nationwide on July 29. The book may also be purchased online at www.meadowbrookpress.com.
