Geneva, Switzerland, (PRWEB) July 30, 2003 - Mr. Atkinson and Mr. Karr were invited to be interviewed on CNBC Europe on Thursday, July 10th, 2003. On Squawk Box, Mr. Atkinson commented on current issues facing Switzerland in the areas of taxation, banking secrecy and bilateral trade negotiations with the European Union.

When asked whether he thought Switzerland would join the EU in the near future, James commented on the system of direct referendum in operation in the country and thought it would be some time before a majority of Swiss voted in favor of joining given Switzerlands history of neutrality.

Mr. Atkinson felt Swiss banking secrecy was not in jeopardy and pointed to the fact that banking secrecy in Switzerland has never protected criminal activity or money laundering.

Later in the morning, Mr. Karr was the guest host of Morning Exchange with Patricia Szarvas and Ross Westgate. Mr. Karr went against the consensus and predicted a 25 basis point cut in interest rates from the Bank of England. Expectations from economists were that the BOE would keep rates unchanged. The new central bank governor, Mr. Mervyn King made Edward quite happy later in the day when he unexpectedly cut interest rates by .25% and took the markets by surprise. Mr. Karr also commented on the strong run in global bond markets and predicted the long term bull market in bonds was at an end.
