Artist and Young Artist of the Year 2003

Hazel Semple, proud owner of www.minigallery.co.uk, has won the 'Best Still Life, Flowers or Gardens' category in the Society for All Artists' Artist and Young Artist of the Year 2003 competition.

Over 3,000 paintings were submitted to the SAA's Artist and Young Artist of the Year 2003 competition and Hazel's acrylic flower painting 'Sunflowers and Lilies II' was one of 25 selected for the final round from entries all over the world.

Hazel was presented with her certificate and 100 in art materials vouchers by John Hope-Hawkins, President of the Society for All Artists at the Artists and Illustrators Exhibition on Saturday 26th July.

Her painting was on display to thousands of visitors at the Artists and Illustrators Exhibition at Islington Business Design Centre 24-27th July 2003, and will be on show at the Pierrepoint Gallery, Thorsesby Park, Newark, Nottinghamshire during August.

Hazel is a freelance website designer and artist from Streatham, London. Since graduating from Goldsmiths University of London in 2000 she has designed a number of websites including http://www.karaokeinfo.co.uk, the leading UK online information resource on karaoke and female lifestyle website http://www.chicklit.co.uk.

Hazel and her partner Chris Storey relaunched their latest creation, art website http://www.minigallery.co.uk, in June and it has already had over 8,000 visitors. Mini Gallery offers artists a revolutionary way to showcase art online commission free. The website has a huge range of affordable art for sale online, features, an art forum, competitions, free art eCards and art books to buy online. Artists can choose from a range of inexpensive annual membership options and set up their own online gallery and the Mini Gallery website has been met with great enthusiasm.
