WHAT: Health Hero Network has developed the Health Buddy® appliance to function as the primary interface for secure communications and data collection between patients and their health care providers. The Health Buddy, awarded Best Product by Business Week and Best Enabling tool by DMAA, was designed to be a personal, easy to use, in-home communication and monitoring appliance. The Health Buddy collects data that provides health care providers important information about a patients chronic condition on a daily basis -- right at their home.

HOW: The Health Buddy appliance plugs into a patients telephone line and an electrical outlet. Each day, Health Buddy will ask a series of questions about vital signs, symptoms and behaviors. Patients answer these questions by pushing one of the four blue buttons on the Health Buddy appliance. The Health Buddy will respond to the patients answers with education, reinforcement and messages that prompt patient action. The entire process takes only a few minutes and can be done any time during the day.
