Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist Garrin Benfield to tour with music Legend Boz Scaggs!

Benfield hits the road opening shows in the Southest and West at venues as large as 5,500!

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) August 1, 2003 -- Garrin Benfield, an emerging Bay Area-based singer/songwriter, is pleased to announce that he will spend this summer opening for Boz Scaggs on his upcoming tour. The tour, which runs from August 1st through August 18th, will be Benfields third with the legendary recording artist. In 2000 and 2001, Benfield opened shows on the West Coast for Scaggs.

As well, Boz Scaggs contributes guitar work to Benfields most recent release, Nowhere is Brighter. On this trip, Benfield will bring his critically acclaimed and much beloved trio that along with himself includes upright bassist Joshua Zucker and drummer Russell Gold.

The tour comes at an optimal time for the young crooner as his profile has been on an upward trajectory over the last year. Acoustic Guitar magazine recently named Nowhere is Brighter as one of the 10 Best CDs of 2002 and Performing Songwriter has covered Benfield twice and is planning to use a cut from the album on its annual compilation CD. Profiles in the San Francisco Chronicle and an upcoming feature in Guitar Player only add additional levels of visibility to the performer who is quickly gaining a reputation as an artist to watch.

In addition, Benfield will head out on his own national tour before the Boz shows fade into memory. He will spend the fall traveling up and down both US coasts presenting his mesmerizing solo-acoustic performances.

Benfield grew up in Westchester New York and attended college at Hampshire College in Amherst Mass. It was there that Benfield began writing songs and singing professionally. After graduation, he packed up his guitar and headed west to San Francisco. Since moving to the Bay Area Benfield has built a fervent community of supporters of his music.

Together with producer Michael Rodriguez, engineer Chris Taberaz, Jallen Rix, and Diane Maldaver, Garrin formed Eighth Note Records. This indie label has since released both of Benfields albums. Recently, as a result of Benfields constant touring the community has grown to become a nationwide phenomenon with folks hopping from show to show, further developing the family vibe.
