Galileo Galilei to visit the Connecticut Valley Astronomers Conjunction.

Galileo Galilei/The Starry Messenger, as portrayed by actor/educator Michael T. Francis, will be visiting the Connecticut Valley Astronomers Conjunction on Saturday, August 23, 2003, at Northfield Mountain Recreational and Environmental Center, Northfield, MA.. Ask someone to name famous scientists and invariably the name Galileo Galilei comes up. Considered the father of modern science by many, few people really know what Galileo did.

The program is an interactive dramatic presentation that brings the noted Italian mathematician to schools, museums, and libraries to discuss his telescopic discoveries. The program, based on Galileo's book "Siderius Nuncius" , includes a public lecture by Galileo, followed by question and answer sessions where Galileo meets the audience providing a chance to look through his telescope and ask questions about his work, life and times.
