Internationally Known Author Kristie Leigh Maguire Scheduled to Appear at Western Authors Book Look & Shindig in Prescott, Arizona
Pigs Are Flying and the British Are Coming!
(PRWEB) August 1, 2003 - This could only happen in Arizona. On August 16th, you need to be in Prescott to witness this first-ever event. The Western Authors Book Look & Shindig is the first get-together for indie authors, publishers, and entertainers from all over the map showing their stuff.
UK Publisher Raymond Cuttill will be there, along with Irish author Eugene Sullivan, Yuma's own author/publisher Trudy W. Schuett, and of course we can't forget Cathy Sumeracki, author of "Lessons in Pig Farming", who promises to bring along her flying pigs.
Author Kristie Leigh Maguire from Bullhead City, Arizona will be showcasing her three novels: "Desert Heat", "No Lady and Her Tramp" and "Emails from the Edge". These are just a few of the independently-published writers who'll be presenting their books and letting Arizona know about the great reads found online and other unexpected places.
We'll have a drawing for free books donated by authors from China, India and the US, and afternoon family-friendly entertainment, which is where the shindig part comes in.
The entertainment features blues musician Ed Teja, Yuma's cowboy poet Mountain Mac Mackay, comedian Jerry McCarty, and surprise guests to be announced. Our MC for the shindig is Sean, from KNOT-FM Mile High Country in Prescott.
The WABL&S is hosted at Mudd Hole Espresso, 239 N. Marina Prescott AZ, from 9am to 6pm. It's wide open and free to the public all day, and the Mudd Hole will conduct business as usual.
This event is sponsored in cooperation with the WOLves program -- the Center for Writer Promotion, Tech Oasis, cyberManbooks, synergEbooks, Writer Online magazine, and others.

What is Independent Publishing?
Advances in technology have made publishing accessible to more writers than ever. Books in both printed and e-book form are now available from a wide variety of small publishers and authors themselves. Distribution through major chain bookstores is often not an option in an industry now dominated by a handful of publishing giants, yet the reading public still demands variety and innovation.
Indie publishers, through their ability to identify and reach niche markets and respond quickly to consumer needs, can provide an unprecedented level of selection for readers unable to find the books they're looking for from mass-market publishers and distributors.
The Western Authors Book Look & Shindig is a means for indie publishers to introduce themselves and their works to their community of potential readers. Many of the participants have done all their promotion online in the past, but as the Internet changes, there is a need for independently published authors to have a foot in both the online and offline worlds.
This event is a result of extensive online networking and cooperation among authors, publishers, and the tech community to provide exposure to small groups and individuals who could not realistically benefit from larger book-related events.
Kristie Leigh Maguire is the founder of NUW (Not the Usual Way) Independent Authors Community, an international online networking and support community for authors who are published by non-traditional methods. NUW currently has 100 members.
