Chickasaw Nation Opens Winstar Casino

The Chickasaw Nation made a definitive statement in Native Gaming with the recent opening of the new Winstar Casino. Situated on 22 acres of land near Thackerville, Oklahoma, the Winstar Casino is housed within a massive 154 x 460 Low Profile Titan structure from Summit Structures. At just over 70,000 square feet, the casino represents the largest gaming facility in the state of Oklahoma.

The structure itself incorporates both cutting-edge building materials and an interior volume intended to increase energy efficiency. The robust Series 4 Low Profile Titan frame reduces interior volume considerably, thereby decreasing demand on the air conditioning and ventilation systems. For the exterior fabric membrane, the Chickasaw Nation chose Summits Duraweave FR fabric, incorporating both green and tan into the color scheme. Within the structure, the tribe created an effective atmosphere by utilizing a flat black PVC liner to provide an interior seal for the insulation package; the liner also serves to create the ideal backdrop for the dazzling fixtures and accessories.

The interior of the Winstar Casino, designed by L.E. Seitz and Associates of Miami, Florida, features an impressive layout combining two separately themed casinos. Gaming patrons will have a choice between the excitement of the circus-themed, Center Ring Casino, and the fiesta atmosphere of the Mariachi Casino. Several additional features of the Winstar Casino help the Chickasaw Nation establish a new standard in gaming:
·   The high rollers area, High Wire Act, will house 74 machines accepting chip denominations of $5 and over.
·   Three restaurants are included in the structure: The Midway Food Court, The Breadbasket Buffet, and fine dining in The Stone Ranch.
·   Racers" O.T.B. area and the 600 seat Show Place Theater round out the entertainment available to Winstar Casino patrons.

In addition to gaming floor space, the casino will include over 5000 square feet of administrative facilities located on the second floor mezzanine, overlooking the casino floor. At the rear of the Summit Structure, an additional 10,000 square foot traditional structure will enclose employee break and washroom areas, the bus-waiting area, and storage.

In total, Winstar Casino will house over 1000 of the most advanced Class II Games available -- 800 of which are supplied by MultiMedia Games of Austin, Texas. In addition to supplying machines, MultiMedia charged Executive Vice President, Gordon Sjodin, with the task of directly overseeing the entire construction project.

Although the gaming floor is now open, the official Grand Opening is slated for September 2003.
