PacificSol Summertime Blues Cruise Triple Header
The Maynard Brothers Band, The Out of Control Rhythm & Blues Band, and Erin Harkes & The Rebound will team up on board the Captain JP's Summertime Music Cruise
On Monday, August 11 PacificSol Record labelmates The Maynard Brothers Band, The Out of Control Rhythm & Blues Band, and Erin Harkes & The Rebound will team up on board the Captain JP's Summertime Music Cruise for a ferocious blues triple-header. The bands will start out on separate decks but you can bet your blue suede shoes, they'll be jamming with each other before the boat docks.
The Maynard Brothers Band have been on a musical winning streak for the last year. They were winners of the 2002 Northeast Blues Society's Colossal Contenders contest and then were NEBS's representative to the 2002 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Now MBB has an original song, "What To Do", in a soon-to-be-released big-screen movie, "Love Thy Neighbor", and another song, "Down To The River", was recently nominated from over 102,000 entries as Best Blues Song in the national Just Plain Folks Music Awards. In June they performed to an enthusiastic SRO crowd at Maryland's 22nd Annual Bay Music Festival. And opened for jump-blues legends Roomful of Blues in July. Their latest CD is called "Nasty Packages".
Celebrating their 21st year together, The Out of Control Rhythm & Blues Band will once again bring their horn- and guitar-driven blues machine to the Captain JP. OOC has thrilled audiences from Boston to Chicago. They've played to SRO festival and club crowds at the renowned Newport Jazz Festival, the Budweiser Blues Festival, NYC's Hudson River Blues & BarBQ Festival, Boston's Original House of Blues, Chicago's Legends, Rhode Island's Newport Blues Cafe, Connecticut's Husky Blues and Long Island's famous Stephen Talkhouse. OOC has also shared the stage with Grammy-winners Buddy Guy, B.B. King, and Robert Cray, plus Tower of Power, John Mayall, Elvin Bishop, Joe Louis Walker, and many others. OOC's current release, Shake The Nation, now heard on over 180 radio stations across the US, Canada, and Europe.
North Troy resident Erin Harkes has released three albums of original material. And she's only 25. The first album, "Bar Napkins and Magic Markers" was recorded at St. Andrew's college in North Carolina. Her second CD was recorded live at the Elbow Room in NYC. Her latest CD, entitled "Rough" with her band, The Rebound, includes 9 tunes. 2003 has been a good year for Erin. On May 14, she sang the national anthem at a National Soccer League game in DC. And earlier this year she was a guest artist on The Maynard Brothers' latest CD, "Nasty Packages" As MBB says "If you don't get goose-bumps when you hear Erin sing on "Ludmilla's Wedding", check your pulse and call the morgue. You're dead!" That's quite an endorsement.
