New Indianapolis/Regional Business Confidence Poll Being Conducted; Results in Late August

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) August, 2003 -- The Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Indianapolis-headquartered Shank Public Relations Counselors, Inc. have joined forces to conduct a survey of top-level Indianapolis business executives on todays hot-topic issues.

The Business Confidence Index (BCI) poll, which begins this week, will gauge the pulse of the business community on: health care costs, property tax reassessment, the elimination of the inventory tax, workforce quality and the potential change in federal legislation regarding compensatory (comp) time, as well as optimism on the economy.

This is the first BCI poll conducted in Indiana. Quick-hitting surveys like this have previously been done in major Kentucky and Ohio cities. This summers research will include Indianapolis and Louisville, likely expanding to other Midwest cities for future polls. The BCI poll is conducted twice each year.

At the conclusion of this survey, we will be able not only to get a good feel for the current business climate in Indianapolis, but also what the environment is like for Southeastern Indiana businesses based on the Louisville results," said Kevin Brinegar, president of the Indiana Chamber. Furthermore, well be able to identify any disparity between the two areas."

David Shank, APR, president of Shank Public Relations Counselors, added, We proposed adding Indianapolis to the study to give a more comprehensive view of Midwest business conditions. We look forward to making the BCI a semi-annual event."

Preston-Osborne, the Lexington, Kentucky-based marketing communications and research firm that originated the BCI study in 1995, will tabulate all the results, which are due the last week of August. A follow-up survey will be conducted in January to measure what level of change, if any, has occurred regarding the top business concerns.
