ABOUT THE AUTHOR: C.F.Hawthorne was raised in Texas, where she sat at the feet of her grandfather, listening to his nightly tall tales of the Old South. She was fascinated by his ability to tell wonderful stories, and longed to follow in his footsteps. C.F.discovered her second passion which was poetry, when her high school English teacher sent her to the library for being a class clown. That was ok with her because she hated English anyway. It is also the reason why she has a severe problem with commas. (Shes addicted to commas, and is seeking help). Still unaware of her gift, she continued to write poetry for friends and family. Until one day God put a story on her heart. She sat down at the computer and wrote her first novel in 8 months. Which will soon be released in April 2002. Although she has had many struggles and roadblocks, she never forget to thank God for not letting anyone discourage her and for blessing her with the ability to dream and to hold onto that dream until it becomes her reality. She has written three more novels and is currently on her fifth and sixth book. She is truly a blessing from God and her writings show this. Don't take my word for it; read them all for yourself and you will agree. C.F lives in Southern California with her husband of seventeen years, two children, a blind dog, and a ballistic cat. Other than God, her family, and her animals there is no greater Love then her blessing.
BOOK REVIEW:
Greetings & Blessing - Review by Brenda Piper, Cofounder of C&B Books:
I don't write reviews, however this particular book encouraged me to write something, I can't actually say it is a review, this is my feeling as this book touched my soul. I must help promote this book to the fullest extent. Women should not suffer these horrific plights written in this book. Don't get me wrong there is power, love, laughter, pain and healing, you can't put the book down it keeps you on edge and it is full of suspense.
For Every Black Eye, written by C.F. Hawthorne, this is a must read book for every one, women, men, mothers, fathers, teenagers, sisters, brothers. Nobody should miss out on the excellent story of abuse, love, revenge, and healing.
This book will hold your attention, it is well written with the intention of saving those who are fragile, those who are lost, those who have nobody to turn, and because there is nobody to help them, they create inner friends to save and protect them from the cruelty that awaits them.
Nobody should live in constant fear and no these women aren't stupid, they are in need of love and understanding, they need someone to reach out and take their hand and show them away out of the fear they live in. Can you comprehend being in constant fear every day waking day?
This book touched my soul, my heart it went into the very core of my being. Because I was so touched by this book, after I read the book I asked Carol, my partner, if we could order these books to give out to women shelters. Carol said this great book and that we should help this author get this book circulated.
People miss out on the best because of greed, this young lady has written a best selling novel and she should be recognized for such outstanding writing. This is a worthy cause and I employ anyone that visits this site to purchase a book, to support this author's book and if you don't want to read it for yourself give this book as a gift to some poor soul that may need enlightenment. Miss Hawthorne the big shots will be knocking down your door believes me.
I personally don't do reviews, I have Rawsistaz's and Wanda of C&B Books, however, and I had to say how I felt about this outstanding book, superb Ms. Hawthorne, absolutely outstanding. Actually, I haven't found a word in Webster good enough to describe this author's work. She is our September author of the month.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Kill him." I lifted my throbbing head from my knees and glanced around the bedroom. I know I heard a voice. "Kill him," echoed through the room once again. I looked to my left, then my right. Slowly I raised my aching body from the floor. With each painful step I took, the bathroom seemed miles away. I had to lean against the doorframe to keep from falling. Jacob, my husband, had beaten me so badly this time I felt drunk. I reached for the sink and propped my hip against the cool white porcelain, closing my eyes momentarily trying to ease the pain and the nightmare of my reality. It was no use. My reality was a nightmare. I stared at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. My brown eyes were now sunken into dark shadows. The whites of my eyes had red streaks running through them like a state road map. When I spit into the sink, I watched a tooth dance around the porcelain before descending down the drain. Bracing myself with both hands and closing my eyes as the memory of Jacob's fist surged through my body like a demon, I shook my head. Staring at my face once again in the medicine cabinet mirror before opening it, I whispered, "He didn't mean it." I told the sad reflection staring back at me. "He told me so, and I believe him, again. "Flinching, I reached into the medicine cabinet. The pain raced up my arm and stopped in my neck. He didn't mean it. "Kill him, " a familiar voice shouted again, this time sending chills down my spine. Slowly closing the medicine cabinet door and my eyes, I took a deep breath, held it in for a few seconds, and then exhaled. I cautiously opened my eyes. "Febe! What in God's name are you doing here?" I asked, trying to remain calm. "You need me, Annie," she spoke softly. "Kill him tonight when he gets in." "I won't kill my husband, you don't understand I love this man, and he loves me." "Love? Love don't hurt, girl, even I know that and I don't love nothing." I slid to the cold linoleum floor. "You think you can just pop back into my life after all these years just because of one little fight." "Ass whipping Annie. Fighting is when you hit back. You never lifted a hand, Fear and failure made you a prisoner of Jacob's world, not me." "Fear! Failure!" I shouted. "What did I ever fail in?" "Look around you, girl. You're talking to yourself in a bathroom mirror. Now do you see? You don't have a choice. Jacob must die, or you will." "Febe, no please don't do this. I need Jacob and he needs me. I can't live without him." "Annie, that's sick." "No, it's not. I've become dependent on him, on the attention he gives me when he's sorry for hurting me. I'm dependent on the kisses on my forehead, and the . . . " "That's sick, Annie." "No, it's not!" I yelled. "I've come to accept the fact that a no-good man is better than no man at all, and he's my man. I have to protect him." "And I have to protect you!" she shouted. "Febe, this is my life and I can handle it." "Oh hell no, this is our life. I live in this body too. Jacob put cigarettes out on our thighs. He threw gasoline in our face. He did all those things to us. I let him get away with that shit for too many years by letting you handle it. You didn't handle shit Annie. You got handled.
